ICDS Training Programme –

Training within ICDS is the key element for equipping programme officials, functionaries, partners and other related organizations and individuals in achieving the National Goals and Objectives. With emerging community based programme strategies, the community is the ultimate link in the training chain.

Present Status of Training Centres AWTCs/ MLTCs

  • 2 Anganwadi Training Centres one in Shillong covers East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills and Ri Bhoi District. One in Tura covers East Garo Hills, West Garo Hills and South Garo Hills.
  • 1 Middle level Training Centre at the Headquarter Shillong
  • Training of CDPOs/ACDPOs/Instructors of MLTC/AWTCs and Senior Level Officers are trained by NIPCCD, Regional Centre at Guwahati/New Delhi

Middle Level Training

Government of India had sanctioned one Middle Level Training Centre for Meghalaya during 2002-03 to conduct the Regular Training Programmes of Middle Level Functionaries the Lady Supervisors under ICDS and to organise the innovative training programme. The MLTC have brought out publications and pamphlets, posters and have translated materials in local language to disseminate information on nutrition, health education, etc. The MLTC is attached to the Directorate of Social Welfare and many innovative training programmes are organised in collaboration with SIRD Nongsder and Food and Nutrition Board, Government of India

Training of Child Development project Officers (CDPOs) / Assistant Child Development Project Officers (ACDPOs)

Training of CDPOs/ ACDPOs is conducted by National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD), Regional Centre Guwahati. NIPCCD also conducts courses for Orientation/ Refresher Training of Instructors of Middle Level Training Centres and for Instructors of Anganwadi Training Centres.
